IB Maths Analysis and Approaches - Dario is a great tutor. I joked with him the other lesson that he reminds me of Mr. Miyagi from The Karate Kid hahaha giving me exercises in class that seem unrelated at first, like `wax on, wax off`, but in the end reveal their purpose in a way that connects everything together. He has a great ability to take concepts and problems and explain them in a grounded, practical way, showing me how they relate to all sides of math. I begin with a focused initial assessment to understand the student’s current level, strengths, and specific areas of difficulty. This includes reviewing recent work, identifying gaps in understanding, and clarifying academic goals.
Based on this, I define clear priorities and structure a plan tailored to the student. Sessions are typically centered around carefully selected problems, often from past papers, which allow us to address both technique and underlying concepts.
Throughout the process, I place strong emphasis on building a deep and independent understanding, so that the student gains confidence and is able to approach new problems effectively.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from MIT, with a concentration in Philosophy from Harvard University.
In addition, I have over ten years of experience teaching and tutoring Mathematics across multiple curricula, including IB, AP, and IGCSE, in leading international schools and private settings.

How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching while completing my studies in Mathematics, initially working with individual students and small groups.
Over time, this developed into a full professional path, including teaching positions at international schools and extensive one-on-one tutoring. I found that personalized teaching allows for a much deeper and more effective learning process, which is why I continue to focus on it.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a wide range of students, from those aiming for top academic performance to those who needed to rebuild their understanding from the ground up.
A significant part of my experience involves supporting students who had not progressed with previous tutors and required a more precise, structured, and conceptually clear approach.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would recommend looking for a tutor who focuses not only on solving problems, but on helping you understand why methods work.
Clarity of explanation, structure, and the ability to adapt to your way of thinking are essential. A good tutor should help you become progressively more independent, not dependent on guidance.
