Dr Software Is In
About
I have a PhD in computer science, masters in computer science and mathematics and a bachelors in mathematics. I'm retired professor of computer science and software engineering. I was in the university classroom for 35 years all over the world.
There are two issues in solving a computer problem. The first is the essential problem: what do I want to and how can I get the machine to do it? The second problem is accidental corn which buttons do I push and then one order and where do I put semicolons to make the machine solve my essential problem?
Many people get trapped in the second problem and never even get to take a swing at the first.
For me the issue has always been getting the student take one step back from "keystrokes" and focus on the problem to be solved. Most times that step back opens a solution.
This is what I try to show my students.
