About
I have accumulated over 500 hours of tutoring math. I have a Bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Studies - Math and Biology, and I minored in Education. I was a substitute teacher and have privately tutored students from 5th-grade math up to Calculus 1, as well as Organic Chemistry. I've passed the General Knowledge Test, Education Professional Exam, and Math Subject Area Exam. I volunteered at the Center for Multilingual Multicultural Studies and helped international students improve their speaking and listening skills in American English.
I have tutoring experience with students of all ages and from all backgrounds. I'm kind and patient when it comes to tutoring/teaching. I'm passionate about using effective strategies to make learning successful and enjoyable. I love tutoring because it gives me a chance to have one-on-one interactions with students. It's incredibly rewarding being able to see the improvements that are made when students are given a little extra support.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I talk with the student or parent to determine what the student's goals are and why the student may be struggling.
I then put together a plan with the parent or student for what we will do in our tutoring sessions and what they may do outside of our sessions to achieve their goals.
Together we create a plan for tutoring, doing homework (if requested), learning study skills, and checking progress at various intervals.
