How did you get started teaching?
worked as a college teaching assistant and loved it!
What types of students have you worked with?
Worked with all types of students from elementary to college. Have also taught students with learning disabilities.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
At UCF I have created multiple week long camps for middle and high school students to explore all types of engineering careers with hands on activities. To engage and encourage more students to pursue a technical field of study. I believe you can still register for “Camp Connect” at UCF College of Engineering unless they have changed the name.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask lots of questions! See if you connect with that individual and can communicate well with them. Make sure you respect the person teaching you. You should respect someone when you understand their qualifications and skill set.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should decide if they are struggling because they don’t understand the material or because they have not put the time in to do the homework. If they have been doing the homework and still are not getting it then by all means ask for help. However if it is a lack of time spent trying to do homework then adding a tutor will only add to more time in that subject.
