About

Hello, my name is Koby, and I bring over eight years of professional tutoring and childcare experience, supporting students from preschool through college. My work spans across private tutoring, daycare centers, academic enrichment programs, and various educational establishments, allowing me to connect with learners of all ages and academic levels in a wide range of settings.

I specialize in providing individualized, one-on-one instruction in the following core subjects:

Mathematics: foundational skills, pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry

English Language Arts: reading comprehension, writing (essays, grammar, and literary analysis)

Science: elementary science, biology, and environmental science

Social Studies: U.S. history, world history, geography, civics, and current events—from elementary to high school level

General Academic Coaching: homework help, study skills, organization, executive functioning, and project support

Many of my students come to me for help navigating academic challenges, improving focus and motivation, or building stronger foundational skills. I work with students of all backgrounds, including those with ADHD, dyslexia, and processing delays, by creating a step-by-step, personalized approach that is easy to understand and tailored to each student’s learning style.

My experience also includes working in licensed daycare centers and early childhood education settings, where I led educational games, early literacy activities, and age-appropriate lessons for younger children. These environments strengthened my ability to be flexible, engaging, and nurturing—essential qualities when working with energetic and developing learners.

In addition to daycare and private tutoring, I’ve held positions in after-school programs, learning centers, and academic group settings, where I helped students complete assignments, develop strong study habits, and reinforce classroom content. Whether in one-on-one or small group settings, I’ve supported students through curriculum transitions, especially during key milestones like starting middle or high school.

I’m currently pursuing a dual major in Hospitality and Education at Florida International University. This unique combination allows me to apply the care, structure, and attention to detail from hospitality into every tutoring session. I strongly believe that students thrive when they feel comfortable, respected, and genuinely supported—and I make it my mission to create that kind of environment every time we meet.

Over the past four years, I’ve grown my own private tutoring business, building long-lasting relationships with families who value consistency, reliability, and real results. I’ve worked with students long-term and across siblings, which allows me to develop deep insight into each learner’s strengths, challenges, and academic growth over time.

What makes my approach effective is my focus on relationship-based, individualized instruction. I never take a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, I take the time to learn what motivates each student and what methods work best for them—whether that means visual tools, guided practice, repeated review, or real-world examples. I aim to build both skill and confidence, turning uncertainty into understanding and frustration into progress.

Ultimately, my goal is to help every student feel empowered, supported, and capable of success—not just in school, but in how they view themselves as learners. Through patience, encouragement, and personalized instruction, I’m here to guide students toward their full academic potential, one step at a time.

Koby is a great tutor. He works hardly to make sure my sun does well. I am extremely proud of his approaches. Koby always goes out of his way to make sure my sun is on track. I have never meet a tutor like Koby. He is extremely responsive. My sun had a 32 in math and English and he brought it up to a 92 in English. In math, 94.

Frequently asked questions

When I begin working with a new student, I always start with an introductory consultation, either with the student directly or with the parent/guardian (depending on the age). During this conversation, I gather important details such as the student’s current academic standing, specific areas of struggle, strengths, learning preferences, and goals—whether that’s catching up, staying ahead, or building confidence. In our first session, I like to conduct informal assessments through discussion, sample work, or short review exercises. This helps me gauge where the student is academically and how they process information. From there, I create a personalized learning plan that outlines the skills we’ll target and the teaching approach I’ll use (visual, hands-on, repetition, etc.). Each session is structured, yet flexible. I break down content into small, manageable parts, ensuring that the student understands each step before moving on. I regularly check for understanding, celebrate small wins, and adjust strategies based on what’s working. I also maintain open communication with families to share progress and feedback, and to encourage a team-based approach to student success.
I am currently pursuing a dual major in Hospitality and Education at Florida International University, with a concentration in instructional design, classroom management, curriculum planning, and child development. My coursework has equipped me with a strong foundation in the psychology of learning and how to support students across varying academic levels. In addition to formal education, I bring eight years of real-world experience in tutoring and childcare. I’ve worked in: Licensed daycare centers, supporting young learners with early literacy, social-emotional development, and school readiness skills Academic after-school programs, helping elementary and middle school students with homework support and skill-building Private households, where I’ve worked one-on-one with students ranging from Pre-K to high school, often over multiple years Small group learning environments, where I led focused sessions in reading comprehension, writing, math, and social studies These roles have strengthened my ability to tailor instruction, manage different learning needs, and build trusting relationships with both students and parents. I’m especially skilled at teaching visually and breaking down material in a clear, step-by-step way that helps students truly understand—not just memorize—what they’re learning. I have extensive experience working with students who have learning differences, such as ADHD, dyslexia, and executive functioning challenges. I’m confident in creating supportive, individualized learning environments that promote growth, progress, and confidence. References from families I’ve worked with long-term are available upon request. .
Yes. I charge a flat rate of $45 per hour for online one-on-one tutoring sessions. This rate includes: Lesson preparation In-session instruction Any supplemental materials I provide Progress updates or feedback if requested I also offer recurring packages at discounted rates for families booking multiple sessions per week or looking for long-term academic support. I conduct all sessions via Zoom or Google Meet, with flexible scheduling to meet the student’s availability and time zone.
I began tutoring professionally about eight years ago, initially helping younger students in my community who needed extra academic support. What began as a few tutoring sessions quickly turned into a consistent part of my life as I discovered how much I love teaching and guiding students. As my experience grew, I started working in educational centers, daycares, and eventually as an independent private tutor, supporting students in both academic content and study habits. My passion lies in helping each student discover their strengths and building their confidence. No matter what level a student is at, I believe in meeting them where they are and guiding them forward at a pace that works for them.
I’ve worked with a wide range of students across age levels, academic needs, and learning styles, including: Preschool and kindergarten students focusing on letter recognition, phonics, and number sense Elementary students building skills in reading, writing, math, and science Middle school students learning essay writing, algebra, reading comprehension, and social studies High school students working on academic writing, history, biology, and geometry I also have extensive experience working with students who have learning disabilities or special educational needs, including: ADHD and attention-related challenges Dyslexia and other reading difficulties Executive functioning issues (organization, planning, and focus) My teaching style is highly visual, structured, and encouraging, which makes it especially effective for students who struggle with traditional classroom settings or who need more individualized instruction.
One student I recently worked with—a 6th grader—had been falling behind in reading and writing due to focus and processing challenges. She often felt defeated and avoided class participation. After a few sessions of targeted instruction, clear structure, and positive reinforcement, she began turning in homework consistently and started raising her hand in class. Her teacher later reached out to her parents to share the change, saying, “It’s like a light turned on.” That shift—from hesitant to hopeful—is exactly what fuels my passion for tutoring. Seeing a student realize they’re capable is a moment I never take for granted.
Find a tutor who is not only knowledgeable in the subject, but also knows how to adapt to your learning style. Ask potential tutors how they explain difficult topics or how they approach students who feel stuck. A great tutor doesn’t just deliver information—they connect with you, keep you engaged, and help you grow your confidence.
Here are a few important things students (and families) should consider: What specific subjects or skills do I want help with? Are there particular assignments or long-term goals I need support with? What type of learning environment helps me focus—structured, relaxed, interactive? How often do I want tutoring: weekly, biweekly, or just for big projects? What are my goals beyond grades—confidence, independence, study habits? Having clarity around these questions will help you communicate better with your tutor and ensure you receive the right kind of support from the very first session.
