Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Rapport. That's everything to me...if you do not have an established rapport with students it's difficult to get them to engage in the lesson. So I get to know them first learn about their experiences with school and the subject they struggle in and their concerns and give them a diagnostic to see what they know versus what they think they know and don't know and work from their. I'm not a homework help type of tutor. I extend the lesson for the student at their pace so they may understand it better.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a state certified teacher and have been teaching in Florida for 5 plus years. I also have both my masters and bachelors in education. I love teaching at the elementary level because it excites me watching younger students make mental connections and taking responsibility for their own learning.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Typically I don't, it's the teacher in me that enjoys teaching.
How did you get started teaching?
Through life experiences forever I am a big sister so I was always teaching the younger ones. But professionally excluding two years of teaching internship 5 years.

students in my class making mental connections and planning effective lessons so I can instruct them. Especially through Unconventional ways like using food for example; one year my second graders did not understand place value so I brought in graham crackers to act as the 100 place and pretzel sticks to act as the tens place and finally marshmallows to act as ones place with a spinner and the students task was to spin the spinner three times wrote the numbers and demsotrate the values using the ingredients in their place value chart.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a tutor in your area of expertise?
Hire one that genuinely like teaching and students.
What questions should students think through before talking to tutors about their needs?
Students should use the tutors as an extension of their teacher and ask them
to address or clarify things that don't make sense to them in their lesson.
