Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My tipycal process working with a new student is to introduce myself telling students about my experiences in tutoring kids from different levels and how they improved during my classes.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The education that I have at this time is the one I took many years ago at the University from Ecuador. I got two major degrees in my education. One of them is Licenciate in Math and Physics and the other is Bachelor in Math. Then in 1986,I started in M.D.College taking the regular courses and the ones to become a Math teacher. After this,I started tutoring students from different levels through now.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes. From 1st grade to 5th grade my quote is $ 28 per hour, from 6th to 9th grade is $ 35 per hour. My sessions are 1- hr class or 2 - hrs class once or twice a week even Saturdays.
How did you get started teaching?
When I was attending the University in Ecuador I saw that Math was my favorite subject to teach in the future. At that time, the Math schools were teaching was the Modern Math were you work with Sets,Elements,Universal Set and also graphing them. It was hard for students to understand this type of Math so I saw the opportunity in starting teaching something I was learning at that time. This was the way where I started tutoring.
What types of students have you worked with?
About the types of students I have been tutoring are from Elementary and Middle school. Most of them have background problems especially in time table, fractions or division of large numbers. But in a few classes they get improves a lot even in their school scores.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Talking about recent event I can mention the WORLD CUP 2018.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My major advise could be: Analyze the tutor/ teacher experiences worked in the Math field and also read the reviews that other parents said about my tutorial with their kids.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
First of all, make a plan about what do the student expects from the tutor in his tutorial and 2nd and last if he is going to learn as soon as he or his parents hire the tutor.
