Sometimes, studying for a test or taking a class feels daunting and scary. Having a someone to help out can make the task a lot easier to accomplish. I aim to help out all types of students with different situations, learning styles, and future goals. I have completed my associates degree and pursuing my bachelors degree in microbiology and cell science.

I have helped students from elementary school to college students with subjects such as algebra, calculus, and other types of math. I also tutored high school Biology and up to college level Chemistry. By tutoring one on one, I gain the opportunity to learn about a student's learning style and help them learn the topic the way they understand it best. Not only does this help them on the test or pass the class, but it makes a more memorable learning experience that can help them retain the information for a lot longer.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

First thing first, I need to understand what the student is going through and what their needs are. The first couple of lessons are driven by the student, and I am there to guide them. Most of the time the student knows exactly what they are missing themselves. From there, it is a matter of getting them the resources that they need. Sometimes it is a full blown lesson, helping them with a couple of homework questions, or something in between.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Since I have been teaching students since 2019, I have gathered a lot of experience in teaching. The main subjects I have taught are math and chemistry, but I also work with students that need help in other areas of science as well.

My pricing is dependent on the grade level and difficulty of subject. I have written specifics bellow: Elementary school math/science $20 Middle/High school math/science $20 - $30 College math $30 - $40 College chemistry and biology $40 - $50

How did you get started teaching?

At first, I started explaining things to fellow students and helping them with their homework. I guess I did a great job because soon after, more people would seek out my help. I even got compliments saying that I could already teach the class if I wanted to. At that point, I was using some of my free time to tutor my peer's younger cousin, who was struggling with what seemed like ADHD. I saw what a little bit of one on one did to change their whole outlook on school and education. I did some research and I stumbled on this website. That was when I decided to take the next step to start helping more kids, then eventually adding subjects and grade levels.

What types of students have you worked with?

A majority of the students I teach are struggling to keep in pace with class. They usually have a special circumstance that makes the whole learning process way too overwhelming, losing interest in education altogether. I have adopted the strategy of chunking things into manageable steps, and using a technique called 'active recall' to help them keep track of information that would be near impossible to absorb otherwise. However, every once in a while, I do get a student that has everything under control. Even thoughts they have good grades and understanding of the material, they have a confidence issue, such as testing anxiety. In this case, we work together using a more practice based approach. By doing problems and discussing strategies, the test becomes a lot less nerve wracking.
