Private Math Tutoring
About
I LOVE math! Needless to say, I have met many students and adults who do not share my feelings :o) However, my experience is not unique, at least to my mind. I was a typical girl who loved school and delighted in bringing home A's (yes I am a nerd). I discovered that my love of school did not diminish as I got older, and my enthusiasm extended to wanting to help others excel at what I found so enjoyable.
I have a BA in Mathematics from Oakwood University, and I worked for the Dept. of Defense for over 10 years. I have also volunteered at my church's free community tutoring program for over 6 years. I have taught in traditional middle and high school settings, as well as summer school sessions, and privately through online courses. I have tutored students in all areas of math from elementary thru graduate-level statistics.
In 2012 I decided to combine my love of math with the joy I get from seeing a student get excited about learning and understanding a new concept. Thus, here I am ready to help your student succeed in, and maybe even enjoy, math!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My teaching method is to build on the knowledge a student already possesses. This way, I can customize a lesson to any skill level. Making connections between concepts a student already knows and the one they are trying to learn is vital!
