About

I started tutoring math in the 9th grade when I moved to a new school and was 2 weeks ahead in Algebra. I discovered that helping someone else to learn meant I learned better.

In Highschool I worked with my father, a retired Army officer, to improve his writing while he completed his Ph.D. I also edited most of his papers.

After that my sisters were homeschooled and I taught them beginning with multiplication on through high school graduation. I currently homeschool my sons and tutor my friends' children as needed.

I would love to help you too.

Frequently asked questions

When I work with a new student, I typically start by reviewing the work she or he is currently doing, and then take my student step by step throgh the process of completing the work.  As I work with my students I begin to see areas where they will need more help and will recommend to the student and parents that these needs be addressed.  I also take the time to teach my students how to look up information and learn to solve problems that they don't understand.

My sisters are 13 and 16 years younger than me, I began working with them when the youngest was in 3rd grade.

I have homeschooled all 4 of my boys at different times and have worked with children and teens in various youth groups.

I typically charge $40 for the first 2 hour session, and if the student(s) and I mesh well, and choose to continue working together, I will work with the family to find a price point that they can afford.  The goal is for the student to be able to pass the class, understand the work, and begin to teach his or her self.

Kids, teen and young adults of every shape size and color.  If someone needs and wants help, I can generally work with them.

Choose someone who can work with you at your level and help you learn how to teach yourself.  It isn't enough to be able to copy what someone else has done, you need to know how to look for your own answers.

Are you willing to work at improving?  If you won't work for it, you won't succeed.
