Subash has been my tutor for almost six months now. As a post-bac student going back for pre-med prerequisites, I was nervous about the STEM classes Id have to take, and for the first time in my life. Subash has tutored me for all of my classes, and I have had great success. Subash is patient with his students, and he explains concepts in a way that is easy for the student to grasp. Id recommend Subash to anyone in need of a tutor.

    Frequently asked questions

My Process for New Students When I start with a new student, my first priority is to understand your unique needs and learning style. Here's how we'll work together: Initial Assessment & Goal Setting: We'll begin by discussing your current challenges in the subject, your learning goals, and what you hope to achieve through tutoring. I'll ask targeted questions and, if appropriate, we might work through a few sample problems to quickly pinpoint areas where you need the most support. This helps me understand your current level of understanding and where the gaps might be. Developing a Tailored Plan: Based on our initial assessment, we'll collaboratively create a personalized learning plan. This plan outlines specific topics we'll cover, strategies we'll use to address difficult concepts, and how we'll track your progress. My aim is always to build on your strengths while systematically tackling your areas of weakness. Active Learning & Practice: Our sessions will be interactive. I'll explain concepts clearly, provide examples, and then guide you through practice problems. I encourage questions and discussions because I believe true understanding comes from active engagement. We'll work at your pace, ensuring you feel confident before moving on. Continuous Feedback & Adjustment: I provide regular feedback on your progress and encourage you to do the same. If something isn't working, we'll adjust our approach. My goal is to empower you to become a more independent and effective learner, not just to solve immediate problems.
My extensive academic background and specialized training provide a robust foundation for my tutoring work: Postdoctoral Researcher at an Ivy League University: Currently, I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at an Ivy League University. This role keeps me at the forefront of scientific discovery and strengthens my ability to explain cutting-edge concepts across various STEM fields. Doctor of Philosophy (PhD): I hold a PhD in Neurobiology/Biomedical Science. My doctoral research has provided me with an advanced and current understanding of complex scientific principles and rigorous research methodologies. Certified Tutor (CRLA Level II): I hold a Level II certification from the College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA), an internationally recognized standard for tutor training. This certification was earned during my time as a Supplemental Instructor. Supplemental Instructor Experience: I gained valuable pedagogical experience serving as a Supplemental Instructor for Physics, Chemistry, and Calculus at both a state university and a community college. This role honed my ability to explain challenging concepts to diverse groups of students and facilitate active learning.
My rates reflect my extensive experience, advanced academic background, and commitment to delivering high-quality, personalized instruction. Standard Hourly Rate: Please inquire for my current hourly rate. In-Person Tutoring (Travel Surcharge): For the convenience of in-person sessions at your residence, a travel surcharge will apply. This fee helps cover my travel time and expenses from University City, Philadelphia. Travel Surcharge: $50 - $75 per session, depending on distance. Flexible Travel Surcharge for Frequent Lessons: I understand that regular in-person sessions can accumulate travel costs. For students with frequent, ongoing lessons, we can discuss reducing or potentially waiving the travel surcharge after a few initial sessions. This will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
