Hello!
My name is Kevin Holcomb, and I am a retired middle school math teacher. I currently work as an online math tutor, helping students in grades 5-9. Additionally, I am the author of the children's book series: The Adventures of the Daredevil Grasshopper. I worked in public education for 10 years, and have tutored online the last 3 years.

I am extremely knowledgeable on all the material and curriculum for grades 5-9, specifically the common core math standards. Additionally, I served in the United States Marine Corps for 23 years. I have a current Florida teaching license, and have passed all BCI and FBI background checks. I currently live in Clearwater FL with my Brussels Griffon pup Mikey and have a son who attends college.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
It is a unique balance of teaching, initial assessment and relationship building.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I initially graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1996 with a degree in Business Administration. From 2005-2007, I attended Wright State University for Education (4.0 GPA), and Penn State University for Mathematics (3.37 GPA), in order to obtain licensure in secondary mathematics. Later, I attended Grand Canyon University where I started my masters in Education (4.0 GPA). I successfully passed the PRAXIS for secondary mathematics (145), secondary education (169), and business (670).

I charge $30/hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I completed the Troops to Teachers Federal Program, and Expanding the Pool of Eligible Teachers Ohio Program in 2007 (licensed in grades 7-12 math for Ohio), after graduating with a business degree in 1996 from Bowling Green State University.
