I'm a recent Harvard College graduate. I graduated magna cum laude in May with a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Psychology. I also completed a language citation in Spanish. Before college, I graduated from Albert Einstein High School (May 2016), where I completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.
My services include: writing skills, reading comprehension, grammar, and essay editing and consulation for college and graduate school applications.
As a "words person," I enjoy writing and teaching writing to students all of ages - from elementary to middle to high schoolers. I'm a native English speaker with an exceptional grasp of grammar and can teach anything from paragraph structure and logic to thesis statements and essay arguments. As a lover of literature, I am also comfortable teaching reading comprehension across a variety of types of literature, including novels, plays, poetry, non-fiction, and more.
As a tutor, I am patient, easy-going, and fun. Overall, my teaching philosophy is to adapt to the student - taking it slow when we need to and getting more complex as the student progresses and shows mastery. I want my students to feel comfortable, to feel that they are learning, and to make our sessions both fun and memorable for both of us!
I love the a-ha moment in teaching and learning. The feeling of seeing someone's face light up when they finally solve a math problem, or "get" a piece of literature, or finish writing a challenging paragraph is priceless. I'm so grateful for the amazing teachers I've had in my life and I hope to give the same support to the younger generation.
Marta is great. She had been beyond accommodating to meet with our son during these difficult times (COVID-19). His confidence is growing each and every time they meet. If you are thinking about improving your kids reading give Marta a call. Thanks Marta!
Very affordable and amazing :)
