Hi there! I am a private tutor with specialties in essay writing and editing, literature comprehension, grammar and more.
I graduated from the University of Missouri in 2018 with a B.A. in journalism an a minor in political science. I now live in D.C. where I work as a digital strategist for Meridian International Center. Prior to this, I worked as an editor in a large newsroom where I mentored student journalists.
My proficiencies include AP style writing, MLA format, long-form writing and website coding. I'm passionate about helping others discover their writing capabilities and am always happy to help students when they're stuck on an essay.
I've been tutoring in writing for five years and many of my students have gone from a C in English to an A- in a matter of weeks. My tutoring style isn't to just give the answer away- it's to teach and help students understand why the right answer is correct.
I'm happy to do basic tutoring, AP test tutoring or ACT prep. I prefer to work with students in-person, but of course will answer quick questions over thhe phone.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start my tutoring sessions by going over upcoming assignments the student would like help with and pinpointing areas that have caused stress or issues in the past. I tailor each session to the specific student, and focus largely on time management so that we're never down to the wire.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I lived in Belgium for six months where I worked as a reporter for a large media outlet that covered the European Union. After that, I became a copy editor in a newsroom where I proofread all articles before they went to an audience of 30,000. Now, I live in D.C. working as a digital strategist; in this role, I spend all day writing copy for our website, editing our blogs, interviewing foreign service officers and mentoring interns. For the last five years I have always tutored on the side and find great joy in helping others improve their skills.
