About
With 8 years of teaching experience, I work with students of all levels and ages to improve English reading and writing skills.
I hold a teaching license in Maryland and hold a MS degree from Johns Hopkins University in Teaching & Learning and specialized in ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages).
At Harvard University, I received my M.Ed in Education Policy and Management and further refined my pedagogy. SAT, ACT, GRE, SSAT, PARCC, and any other standardized test preparation are my specialties. I am very familiar with common core curriculum, as I have taught in the public school system myself.
My students have shown dramatic growth in all writing areas: college essay writing, creative writing, timed writing, etc. I incorporate many mini lessons to improve students' vocabulary, grammar, structure, and logic within their writing.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We would first communicate via phone or email to discuss individual goals. You are welcome to send me any writing samples or test reports so that I can prepare for our trial lesson.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've taught literacy in a public school system for students in grades 1-8. I also teach reading and writing at Montgomery College for adult students of all levels.
I also tutored undergraduate students in writing-intensive courses at Boston College and understand what it takes to prepare for college-level writing.
