About
I have been helping other students, peers, colleagues, and friends’ children most of my life. Math and the sciences were my strongest subjects even through college. I earned more degrees in finance and later studied design to focus my career ambitions. However, after decades of a few exciting careers, I returned to my favorite career, tutoring. While I was retired, my success in tutoring became known to a few colleagues who asked me to help their children.
I have worked with students from 3 to 33 years old, but most have been in middle and high school. In addition to STEAM coursework, I also teach language arts, grammar, US History and more. Basically, my goal is to help you become a strong, confident, independent student. I also incorporate several executive functioning skills, such as organization, prioritizing, and breaking big projects down to smaller, less fearful steps.
For over 5 years I have been a dedicated private tutor and homeschool teacher. My private homeschool students have often been young athletes who train 35 to 40 hours per week but need to keep learning through middle and high school. In these situations I work with curriculum provided or have developed custom curriculum aligned with core.
As a mom of two incredible grown daughters with their own learning needs and strengths, I have worked with amazing educators and schools where I have been exposed to many teaching styles and approaches.
All these experiences, exposures and education have made me a highly recognized tutor. But my flexibility, belief that learning is possible, perseverance, humor and life stories have made me a great tutor.
