Frequently asked questions

I have a discussion about their academic strengths and weaknesses and where they feel they need improvement. I look at student work to see how their reading and writing are coming along and what misconceptions there may be.

I have a master’s degree in elementary education and a master's degree in English and creative writing. I am certified to teach elementary and middle school. I have been teaching middle school Language Arts for 7 years now.

I charge an hourly rate of $70.

I wanted to be a teacher ever since I was a kid. I went to college right after high school. I got my undergraduate degree in English first and then completed 2 years of graduate school to get my master’s degree and certification. I worked as a substitute teacher in my hometown of Norwalk for a couple years until I started teaching full time. I have been teaching at the same school for 6 years. I have taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade ELA.

I have worked with students of all ages. I have given homework help in all subject areas. I help students who are still learning how to read English practice their phonics and decoding to make them better readers. I have experience working with students with special needs and IEPs/504 plans. I have worked with students from many different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.

I got married recently on May 22, 2021. It was the best day of my life. I have been with my husband for a long time, so taking the next step of marriage was natural and exciting. We were surrounded by our family and friends, many of whom we hadn't seen in a long time due to COVID. Planning a wedding while still in the midst of a pandemic was challening and stressful, but it was worth it to do it safely. Everyone had a wonderful time. I even live streamed the ceremony so that my students could watch.

Don’t ever be afraid to ask for help. Knowing your strengths and weaknesses is the first step to improving. Reading and writing are essential life skills, and there is always room for improvement. Be patient and confident, and you can do anything.

What do I need help with the most? What do I struggle with, and why? What do I do well? How do I like to learn? What are my academic goals?
