Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
In my classroom in the past, I used five ice breaker questions to get to know students and then answered them myself to introduce me. I'd imagine I'd follow the same format on here. Then ask what strengths/weaknesses the student has and build the trust from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Accounting education, a couple years teaching at business/technical institute, some spot tutoring, and a father who taught math for 30+ years
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$35/hr
How did you get started teaching?
It's a family passion that I fell into as well as coaching.
What types of students have you worked with?
High school and post graduate high school.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone you are comfortable with price wise, but especially that fits your learning style and brings out the best in you!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
-Have I applied what I've learned today and recently as it serves me in this lesson?
-Have I tried to the best of my ability? And then tried again?
-Is there anything in the real world that applies to this lesson?
