About
I have a passion for numbers and math! It shows when I teach students a variety of ways and make it fun. I love watching their "A-HA!" moment when they understand! I've been working with students for over 5 years. I am patient and determined to try different strategies to gain students' understanding of problem solving. I have a plan before my sessions. However, many plans get revised as the session continues, based on the needs of my student. I take my time and address different strategies until it finally "clicks". It does click! I give positive reinforcement, and continuously provide my student with compliments for their hard work.
I truly have an affinity for math. It's a passion for me. It shows in the way I teach. I love when my student understands. At times, I make them be my teacher (reverse roles) to make sure they completely understand the math concept. I make it fun and interesting for them.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
All of my tutoring thus far has been virtual. I utilize a Zoom meeting platform and a large whiteboard with colorful markers for my students to see. I first like to assess my student to see what he or she knows. What work needs to be done and I plan accordingly. I do make a plan. However, sometimes that plan goes off-track depending on the outcome of the work. At times, I may need to incorporate different math strategies. I am good at being flexible and ad-libbing based on the needs of my students.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an MBA in Marketing and was successful in my 20+ years in Direct Marketing and Market Research industries. Having young children changed my focus to education, working in the school system for over 5 years as a paraeducator. I provide additional help to students that need it. From March 2020 to June 2020, I worked individually with three students virtually. Since June 2020, I've continued working with one of the students and not only do I see the progress, but so do her parents! I love math and algebra, and know many ways to instruct to help assist students.
How did you get started teaching?
I started as a substitute teacher and one school hired me as a paraeducator. I've been a paraeducator for 4 years. I got started tutoring based on teaching virtually during March - June 2020. Parents of a student loved the way I worked with her, so they asked me to continue tutoring througout the summer. I have tutored her four days a week throughout the summer and continue to do so once-twice a week. I truly enjoy tutoring.
What types of students have you worked with?
I am employed at the board of education as a Special Education Paraeducator, providing assistance to those students in special education with learning disabilities, as well as behavorial issues.
