About

I work with students to find target learning to address specific areas where improvement is sought, whether that be specific or more general improvement. Sometimes, what's giving a student trouble in a class is not always easy to determine, and I assist in establishing the most effective lesson plan for each individual student to meet their needs.

I enjoy working with students using my unique approach and watching the student grow in their knowledge and appreciation for the material. I am able to instill long-term study habits and knowledge fundamentals that will benefit the student even after they have finished a class. Having my students do well is a source of personal and professional pride for me, and I am uniquely dedicated to pursuing student success.

Frequently asked questions

For parents whose child is begining lessons, I typically start with a discussion between the parents and myself that includes determining desired results, specific areas of improvement, pricing, and scheduling. I also work to discover the "why" of a student's difficulties with a course, including reasons not directly related to content. For instance, many students who do well on homework in classes like math and science may not do well on tests and quizzes for the simple reason that they don't have enought time and therefore need practice solving problems faster. The "why" is an important part of the lesson plan and helps the student achieve their desired outcome. The "why" is established by including the student in the conversation, as both students and parents have insight into why the student may be having difficulty.

For an older student starting lessons without parents, I like to have the same conversation that covers the same topics such as logistics and areas of improvement.

I am a 2021 graduate of the Kingswood Oxford school and a current first-year Biochemistry student at Washington University in St. Louis. I was also the sole National Merit Finalist from my high school. I have tutored peers and other students in both formal and informal settings, including as a Math Peer tutor for two years at my high school. I achieved high scores on AP, SAT subject, PSAT, ACT, and SAT exams as well as high grades in high school and college. I would be more than glad to share additional qualifications that are specific to your current situation.

I have worked with a wide-range of students including as a Pre-K teacher, where I assisted in teaching reading and math to young children, as well as a peer tutor in high school. I have also worked with students with ADHD as well as other learning disabilities.
