I am a Reading/Writing Tutor along with Disabilities specialist. I have varied experiences working as an assistant director of a day camp, online tutor, online adjunct professor, lead Special Education and English liaison teacher, as well as several teaching publications. I am a certified teacher in moderate learning disabilities, English, ESL and have training in Orton Gillingham and Wilson reading programs!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process for working with a new student is to first discover their learning style and ways that will make learning engaging and interactive for them!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a certified teacher in English, Special Education, and English as a Second Language. I have many years of experience teaching both in the classroom and through publications in education. I have a Masters degree in Education as well as training with two highly recognized reading intevention programs, Wilson and Orton Gillingham phonics instruction.

How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching in 2011 and knew that edcuation and helping others was a passion of mine I would pursue as a life long career!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a wide variety of students ranging from students with disabilities at the elementary level to advanced level graduate students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent event I am fond of is getting a new pug puppy!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise the student to find a teacher that they feel comfortable with. It is very important for students to feel like they can ask questions without judgement and are motivated by their teacher to take positive risks in the classroom.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
When asking a teacher for help, it is important for a student to think about what their end goal is- what do you want to accomplish and what do you need to do to meet your goal?
