I am currently a student teacher in my final semester of graduate school. I look to be a full-time teacher starting in this upcoming school year. I was an Undergraduate Mathematics Major with an English - Creative Writing Minor and graduated Magna Cum Laude and departmental honors in Mathematics.
I love math and will be able to tutor in the vast majority of math subjects and also some levels of English. If you give me a heads-up on the material and the unit I will be sure to review beforehand and refresh my memory!
Working with children has always brought me great joy. I am definitely a kid at heart and think that I have no greater calling than to help kids learn and conquer their struggles with math!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I'd like to get to know them quickly and then ask what questions they have about the topic at hand. Correcting misconceptions is incredibly important in mathematics so my goal is to try to find the root of the misconception and then build up from there. Students often need just a little bit more one on one clarification in order to understand a math concept which is difficult to give in a classroom setting.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was an undergraduate major in mathematics and I am currently a student teacher at Fox Lane Middle School. I was also an intern at FLMS for the past year and a substitute at Brewster High School before that. Lastly, I was a sleepaway camp counselor where I was the head of the tennis program for the past 6 summers.
How did you get started teaching?
I was in business school for 2.5 years studying Corporate Finance and Accounting but realized through working at Red Arrow Camp in Wisconsin that I am meant to work with children. Since math has always been my favorite subject, it was a quick and easy decision to transfer schools and start studying to become a math teacher!

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Try to think about what you're struggling with within the topic. Also coming in with questions is very helpful because it gets the ball rolling! Lastly, if you contact me beforehand with some of the material I will be sure to be better prepared!
