About

I care. I am not just trying to make a dollar off of my students. I truly care whether you are soaking in the information and are really understanding the material. More important that you walk away learning something new, even if it’s just one simple thing like a trick to solving an question, the meaning of a math term, or how to check your answer. I do not expect my student to "get it" overnight. It takes time and it takes a lot of training of your mind to understand the relationship and meaning of numbers in such different formats. That is why I do not stop helping when the house is done, I give additional problems to work on in-between get togethers. I want to make sure you are able to understand the material on your own because I won't be able to be next to in your classroom when you are taking your tests.

I love that I can help a student feel confident. Mathematics can be such a fun and easy subject but there are so many students that struggle with the ability to grasp what the numbers they are writing mean. I LOVE watching the facial expression on my student's face when they finally & truly GET IT! It is so rewarding and my heart fills up with such gratitude.

I have such a LOVE for mathematics and I wish I can study/do it all day every day. I enjoy one on one teaching because it is important to really understand the needs and strengths of your student, no one is the same and we all learn different ways and at different speeds. That is important!

Frequently asked questions

I like to first understand HOW my student learns. It's important for him/her to feel comfortable, by feeling comfortable it allows the student to experience a better line of communication with me regarding their troubles and uncertainty.

I believe that Math is one of the top subjects’ students are looking to find outside help because their teacher is not capable of giving 1 on 1 attention to each individual student and adapting to their learning style. I want my stupid to not only understand WHAT they are learning and what their answers mean but WHY.

By allowing your student feel comfortable in the environment, which opens a better line of communication, it then allows them to express their questions and troubles and I’m able to mold a session to them vs practicing a generic session. I am able to explain and help guide them in a way that makes sense to THEM. Understand what their problems mean and what the solution means in terms of words/pictures, not just numbers.

I am a Mathematics major, but I am also double majoring in Actuarial Science. I have taken tests regarding skill levels, and I have performed in "above average" in Mathematics.

In 10th grade I was able to average out my grades for the year and received a 96 on my regents for Math. I was in honors Math and Chemistry. When I got into college, I took statistics and received a 98, never opening the textbook. Which led me into being asked to tutor. I have taken a college level mathematics class that I excelled in and not only passed but was unable to attend the final due to emergency and still passed. I then continued with taking Pre-Calc within a 6-week summer semester (normal term length is 15 weeks), had off for a holiday weekend and then followed that with a 6-week summer semester in Calc 1, both receiving an A-. I then recently completed Calc II (online college) and received a 92 in the course. The course was an Independent study, so I had to teach myself the material but I completed the course work required by the professor in a specific time frame, within my 15-week course.

I normally charge $675 an hour. Most tutors that I know and that are well respected and fantastic charge close to $100+. I wanted to be more affordable in hopes that I can attract more students, without forgetting what I am capable of and what I have to offer. I have been blessed with a skill and true love for numbers. I want to be able to share my ways of thinking and learning (sometimes outside the box) to help students feel confident in a such that is so feared and hated.

I have worked with High School and College students, all different levels of math. I have also worked with a student that has special needs and required just a little slower pace and stronger line of communication and understanding.

Don't just hire anyone. You need to find someone who is going to help you not only understand the numbers on your paper but why what you are doing is IMPORTANT. There is no "I think" when it comes to math. You have to KNOW that you got this, because tomorrow you'll build on what you learned yesterday and if you have the slightest doubt in yourself or question on what you are doing, you'll totally second guess yourself and then it will be downhill. You'll become frustrated, disappointed, and unmotivated, which is not fair because YOU GOT THIS!

Figure out how you learn BEST. Are you one that likes to use different colors to help distinguish different steps/parts of a problem? Are you the type of student that likes/learns best with repetition?

Be honest with yourself. Don't ever be afraid to ask for more help. If you are going into a level of mathematics that you are "okay" in but you are not confident in the 2 prior levels of mathematics, let you teacher know. You should not be ashamed for wanting/needing help in more than one level of mathematics. That is why I (we) am here!
