Special Education Teacher 1-6 Tutoring
About
I have been working with children since I was 16 at my mother's daycare- who has owned a daycare my entire life. Before I went to college I knew I wanted to work in the field of childcare/ education because of my experience working in a daycare. When working in the school-age room at my mom's daycare I found my passion for educating students in a more formal setting. There is nothing quite like seeing the light turn on for students and knowing I helped them turn that light on. In addition to my experiences working with and tutoring children at my mom's daycare, the schooling experiences my cousin with autism encountered led me towards a certification in special education. I believe all children are capable of learning and growing and as educators it is our job to ensure all students are provided with the same opportunities to demonstrate success.
I love feeling I am making a difference for my students.I want all the students I work with to know that I support them, I will advocate for them and I see their potential. I love building relationships with my students to expand their confidence and teach them that learning is about making mistakes so we can grow together- I learn just as much from my students as they learn from me. In my opinion, the key to bridging academic hurdles is positive, loving and trusting relationships with those teaching them.
