What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first will figure out why they are doing poorly in that particular subject. I will understand more about their problems and then devise a method that will help them to understand the class and homework. I will use different teaching methods and strategies until I find one that works best for the individual I am tutoring. I usually devise my own strategies that are easy to understand. In 30 years I have never had a problem tutoring someone. I will also try to work within their or their parent's budget in order to show them how good I am.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a retired NYS Licensed Teacher, University Professor, Corporate Trainer, Lecturer, Speaker, and Educator. I have over 30 years experience in the field of education. Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing varies based upon the subject material, the distance I have to travel to the client's home, how quickly they need the help, and many other factors. I am always willing to lower my price if the client is on a limited budget. I am also available 7 days a week, from about 11am to 11pm. In some cases, I have even tutored the client for free. I will always try to accommodate the client and work within their spending budget.
How did you get started teaching?
I began 30 years ago tutoring classmates in high school and then in college. I know I was excellent at it because soon I was swamped with tutoring jobs from other students.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from grades 4 to 12 plus college students, both undergraduate and graduate level. I can basically handle any type and level of student. I can also handle a multitude of subjects including math, accounting, business, computers, science, essay writing, term paper assiatance, specialized exams, and more.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Whenever my client does well in school because of my tutoring assistance, it is an event that I am fond of.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try me out one time in order to see my skills and abilities. People who try me once always continue to use me. I would even offer a free trial in order to try out my services. The trial period would last under 5 minutes so the client can see if I really know the subject material.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Any question is important so when in doubt, a student should let their teacher know that they do not understand the material and that they are looking to get some extra help.
