Hello!
I am Selena Nguyen, preferably Lena. I attend Southern Connecticut State University, currently as a 3rd year Applied Math major. I currently work at the tutoring center at my university as a math tutor. I've been working there since January 2023. From there I earned by CRLA Level 1 certificate, which means I have sat through 10+ hour training to be a tutor. I am currently working for the Level 2 certificate, but the program is being placed together by the university.
Beyond what is on paper, I do my best to match the students pace and their goals. Every student learns at different pace and that is perfectly ok. My job is to meet the student in the middle to help them understand the material they have and reach their goal by the end of the session. I do this in many ways: making practice problems, asking random questions for understanding, writing detailed notes that students can keep, making review sheets, and formula sheets. If a student has a method of learning they prefer, I will do my best to follow that method of learning.
