About

I have been a private tutor since 2010. Over the years, I've focused exclusively on high school math and have full mastery of every topic.

My most memorable student was failing trigonometry (50's), the last math class she needed to graduate. She had no plans for college, she didn't think she could get in. After 3 months and a crushing 87 on her final, her parents reached out to let me know that she started preparing college applications over the summer.

My son worked with Mykola for 3 years and it was such an important investment for my son’s success. Mykola was so patient and thorough and gave my son plenty of time to fully understand the subject of the sessions. I completely recommend LI Mathematics!! Mykola is a very special tutor!

Best tutor around. Very flexible with his schedule, loves helping in between lessons over text. My daughter felt supported and that led to 90s in her trigonometry class. Highly recommended!

Highly recommend Nick from LI Mathematics. He did an excellent job tutoring my niece throughout her high school math courses. Nick was patient, clear, and incredibly effective at breaking down difficult concepts in a way she could truly understand. As a result, her confidence and grades in class improved significantly. He also helped prepare her for the SAT, and that focused coaching led to a noticeable increase in her math score. Nick is professional, reliable, and genuinely invested in his students’ success. We’re very grateful for his support and results.

He understands a wide range of math such as trigonometry, algebra, and geometry on an advanced level. Also, between his clear explanations and great handwriting, it is extremely easy to understand everything he teaches. Lastly, he is a very nice person who creates a great atmosphere for learning. Highly recommend!

    Frequently asked questions

We go through old tests, quizzes, homeworks to discover how the student progressed through the current year. We examine short falls and misunderstandings to better gauge where the learning will start. As math is a compounding subject, it is always best to go back and fix issues from earlier in the student's math career before pushing forward. Once we have a plan set, we review each topic in succession and tie it into the current work being assigned.

I majored in Mathematics at Stony Brook University and have tutored privately for over 10 years. I've had many successful students who attended Ivy League level schools including Cornell and Harvard.

Lessons range from $80 - $100 based on the math subject being tutored.

I started teaching in college when a friend asked me to help him prepare for the pre-calculus final at the end of our first year of college. He did so well that he recommended I do this as a business so I took his advice and ran with it.

I have worked almost exclusively with high school students. Specializing in this way has made me extremely proficient in HS subjects.

A $50 tutor sounds good until you ask them to explain something in great detail. Most are college students who only know how to solve problems without explanation. Not every tutor knows how to present material the way the student will understand so make sure you find one who is well versed and has the experience to properly present the topic in a way the individual will easily grasp. The best way to know which tutor is best,is to book a lesson and see yourself.

Have I historically under performed in math? When did my grades start falling? Was it a result of not understading or perhaps there were days missed? How often will I require homework help and when are my tests typically given? Am I looking to prepare for a specific test or am I looking for better understanding to have a foundation for year to come?
