Molly Brown Math Tutoring
About
I have been teaching math courses for the past 6 years to middle school and high school aged students. I have tutored students from elementary to high school with all levels of math abilities. I am certified in 4-12 Math as well as EC-12 Special Education.
I LOVE teaching math and helping students get a better understanding about math. The spark that happens when they finally understand a difficult topic is something that brings me so much joy. I always work to find a way to solve problems that the student understands and don't just go with a one size fits all method.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I typically have them take a placement test so I can see the levels their at or if they already have school work they need support on I'll jump into that first and then focus on the fundamentals they need help with. I love to get to know my students, I feel like the personal human connection helps students (of all ages!) want to learn from someone.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
-Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Math and Secondary Education

I do have a standard pricing system for my lessons. I am happy to discuss this in more detail if you reach out!
How did you get started teaching?
I have always wanted to be a teacher and knew that when I went into college. I didn't go into college as a math lover but my freshmen advisor encouraged me to look into it more so I did and I began to love it more and more until I made that my major with education!
What types of students have you worked with?
-I have worked with all types of learners at all ablility levels in math. I have worked with students labeled GT and are in all AP courses, as well as students on IEPs who have typically struggled in school. I am happy to elborate more on this if you want to know more!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent event that I am fond of is taking my dogs to the beach for the first time. I grew up going to the coast every summer and loved getting to opportunity to take them this summer! They had a blast and it brought so much joy to me. :)
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Think about what their struggles are in the course that they are having difficulties in, from there the course tends to become "easier" because we know where to start and also having an open mind to learning! Having a growth mindset can change peoples opinions and outlook on math!
