Tracy Tutoring Agency
About
I am a Certified Colorado teacher with a Master's of Arts in Teaching. Currently, I teach 5th-grade reading and I love every minute of it. I have taught Kindergarten and 6th grade as well. I have completed the LETRS training with Certificates of Mastery in each unit. LETRS is an in-depth professional development course that teaches teachers the skills necessary to intervene in all stages of the reading process. I use research-based techniques and the Science of Reading to help students succeed. During my teaching career, I have seen students with ability levels well above and below their grade-level peers and have assisted them in their academic growth. No child is too low or too far behind to receive help. Teaching kids is my passion and my life. This is what I do. I would love to partner with you on this!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When meeting a new student, I start with asking the student why they started tutoring, their academic goals, and where they think they need help. From there, I work with the student to develop a baseline. Whether this is through answering some quick questions to taking a small, informal assessment (if they are comfortable). Then we will develop a plan to meet the goals based upon the data that we collected. I love to give incentives for success as well and I always tailor it to each specific student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a current Certified Colorado teacher and possess a Master's of Arts in Teaching. The 2021-2022 school year will be my 3rd year of teaching. I completed the LETRS professional development course in June of 2021. LETRS is a professional development course that teaches teachers the Science of Reading and teaches us the skills necessary to assess, diagnose, and intervene in the reading ability of our students. I have taught Kindergarten and 6th-grade and have had students that knew no letters or sounds to students reading at a collegiate level. In my classroom, I have had students at every ability level.

How did you get started teaching?
My teaching career go started long before I even realized it. All my life, I have been groomed for a career in teaching. My grandparents were teachers and passed the love for the skill down to me. I started working with kiddos starting at 9 years old and have continued ever since. Outside of school, I have worked with Pre-K to 12th-grade kiddos. I have loved every minute of it.
What types of students have you worked with?
My students have been vastly different in my years of teaching. I have had students from affluent families and families that couldn't put food on the table. Students that have had a calm suburban lifestyle to students that went home to their neighborhood gang. Students that had never learned their alphabet to students that could read at levels above their peers. Students are students. They come where they are. I never judge them by their circumstances or their ability level. Everyone is worth the time, effort, and commitment to be helped.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently ended my year in Kindergarten. Usually, I am so ready for the school year to be over. While I absolutely was, I was also so sad that I wouldn't be able to see those sweet faces again. I have never ended a school year that I was crying too. I will always cherish that class and the wonderful experiences we had together.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a teacher that puts students first. If you need help, you need help from someone who truly cares. From there, make sure they know what they are talking about. There are people certified to do what they do. Make sure that you are getting the best.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Why are you looking for a teacher? Is there a goal you wish to achieve? Is there a dream that you want for your academic career? Do you want to be better at being a student/ study skills? We can help with that!
