About
Helping students truly comprehend and master their subjects has been my goal for 30 years. I have worked with students ranging in age from preschoolers to adults in their sixties. Whether they're learning to read, struggling to comprehend algebra homework, or preparing to take a standardized test for admission to college or graduate programs, my students' learning style determines how I explain the material. If you don't understand something, then it's my responsibility to figure out how to help you to understand.
My tutoring career began during my time at the University of Michigan. After graduating with B.A. degrees in Economics and German, and having earned my teaching certification, I continued working with students in a variety of settings. My preference has always been small group or individual instruction, rather than large classrooms.
I enjoy watching my students grow in confidence as they have success in areas that are difficult for them. That confidence spreads outward to other subjects and other areas of students' lives. The individualized instruction I provide makes a real difference in people's lives.
My students frequently tell me that they never really understood math until they worked with me, and that I have a knack for explaining things in a way that just makes sense.
Tutoring one-on-one with students is my dream job. I'm so lucky to be able to witness learning on that personal level. I am so fortunate to get to see the joy (and relief!) in my students' eyes as they grasp concepts they have struggled with. I truly get to do what I love.
