About this tutor

I have been a elementary school teacher for 24 years and love teaching reading and phonics to k-2 students.  I have a passion for teaching kids how to read and learning their phonics.  I love watching kids grow from the beginning of the year to the end and how much they learn.

I am a skilled elementary teacher certified in k-6 education.  I have 2 degrees one in psychology and one in Elementary Ed and my masters in elementary education.  I would love to work with you.  I am currently still working as a teacher, but would be avaliable after school or on weekends to tutor.

I am excited to meet you and start helping you with your reading and/or writing.

I mostly enjoy the kids and watching them learn.  I love watching when the "light bulb" goes on!!  I get excited watching them get excited about something they have learned.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

First I like getting to know the student and then evaluate what their needs are.

I am a certified elementary education k-6 teacher with my masters.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

$30-50 an hour?  I am flexible, and very willing to work with you with the pricing.

How did you get started teaching?

I have been in the teaching profession for 24 years and love it. I got started by teaching in Jefferson County Public Schools 24 years ago.

What types of students have you worked with?

All types!!  Being in the public school system you work with all types of kids.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I have so many "events" that happen all day long I really can't pick one.  Kids are so fun to work with, I love them.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

I would tell them they want to hire someone with experience, someone who has a passion and love for teaching, and someone who is patient and kind.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What is your experience?  Are you experienced in my area? How will you help me?
