About
I recently got my Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. I have several years experience teaching and tutoring. After my MA degree I tutored students both in person and online at the middle to high school, as well as college, levels. Later I decided to continue graduate school, where I taught undergraduate physics labs. I really enjoy teaching and helping students to not only master problem-solving, but to understand math and physics more deeply. I love tutoring because, rather than having to set exams and homework, I get to help students overcome challenges and fears and to improve their grades. To be able to help another, and to create positive change in someone's life, is a truly rewarding thing!
Learning comes with challenges. As a student, I did not always have an easy time. In class I often struggled to pay attention and to learn effectively. At home I would procrastinate and avoid “sitting down” to start working, often feeling overwhelmed by the amount of piled up material. My personal history of successfully overcoming challenges in learning and motivation makes me a great fit for students who may have similar struggles. Sitting down with a tutor is a great way to overcome that hurdle of dread. In addition to helping you learn the material, I can help you to develop better learning habits and strategies. Let's jump right in!
