About
ACTIVELY ACCEPTING students in all high school levels of calculus, including AP Calculus BC, and those looking for help with college acceptance essays. Please indicate the grade of the student and specifics of the class (ex. math subject and class level (regular/honors/AP)) on your request.
Hi, I’m Emily!
The only thing I love more than learning something new is passing knowledge on to someone else. Seeing the light bloom in a student’s eyes when they have an “AHA” moment, knowing I helped make that possible, continues to fuel my passion for tutoring.
I offer tailored tutoring for high school and college students, in many levels of math, physics, and writing. I specialize in algebra 2, trigonometry, precalculus, and calculus, including AP precalculus and calculus, college algebra, and college calculus 1 and 2.
I am also an admissions essay advisor, assisting students from any point in the process of writing college and graduate school admissions essays. Using AI prevents your essays from standing out. Whether you still need to brainstorm a topic or have an almost final draft, let me help make them shine!
Ask about my reduced rates for those adding this service onto their math or science tutoring.
I can also add standardized test (SAT, ACT, ISEE, etc.) prep to tutoring in one of my other subjects.
I am dedicated to helping my students achieve their greatest potential. To this end, I put in significant preparation before every session to make sure each one is as helpful and productive as possible. I often include my own lessons, examples, and visuals to better explain the class material.
I strive to make learning less intimidating and more fun. I want every student to feel empowered with a growth mindset, taking away the knowledge they can conquer any academic subject with hard work and persistence.
My aim is always a deeper level of understanding and reasoning beyond the ability to just answer the problems. I love explaining the “whys” that reveal the bigger picture and set a student up for future success.
I tutor online and in person at my home office in the Denver Tech Center near Cherry Creek High School.
I have the tools and experience necessary to make online tutoring highly effective.
This includes a digital whiteboard that allows me to work math problems in real time, as if on paper, for my students. I also post notes and study aids specific to the topics we are covering on the whiteboard that students can access at any time.
For essays Google docs allows the student and I to discuss and edit together seamlessly.
I excel at ensuring a student’s personality and passion shine through in their college acceptance essays. From brainstorming to final edits, my attention to detail and love of language help students craft attention-catching personal statements and supplemental essays that illustrate everything they have to offer.
I find it incredibly rewarding to ensure my pupils master the fundamental concepts upon which all their further education will build. Whether teaching an advanced student the foundations of calculus or helping a student who has fallen behind by supplying essential pieces missing from their algebra skill set, I take pride in knowing my tutoring will have lasting effects.
I provide the keys that allow my students to unlock understanding. With dedication, there is no limit to the doors they can open from there.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
To begin, I conduct a complimentary call or video call with the student and parent(s)/guardian(s) to discuss their goals for tutoring, the specifics of the material, where the student is encountering challenges, etc. This also allows us to work out a few logistics ahead of the first tutoring session either online or in person.
The usual first step during math and science tutoring is to work through the student’s assignments.
However, I am dedicated to helping my students achieve their greatest potential. To this end, I put in significant preparation before every session to make sure each one is as helpful and productive as possible. I often include my own lessons, examples, and visuals to better explain the class material.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
A proud bookworm and nerd, I grew up in the Denver area, graduating from Cherry Creek High School with a 4.5 GPA and a 2330 SAT (800 Reading/Writing; 770 Math).
I then studied for two years at Claremont McKenna College (11.14 GPA) but was unable to complete my degree at that time due to health reasons.
I am currently pursuing an Applied Mathematics Degree at CU Denver (4.0 GPA).
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Math and Physics tutoring: This is very dependent on the exact level of the class, but usually ranges between $45-$60 per hour session for high school students. Preparation time included. I reduce my rates for those regularly scheduling two or more sessions per week.
Admissions Essays: $55 per hour, including any time spent editing drafts outside of sessions.
How did you get started teaching?
I have always felt a calling for teaching. I started tutoring professionally in 2020, previously volunteering as a tutor and helping family and friends (including assisting my younger brothers with their college acceptance essays for Stanford and Dartmouth).
What types of students have you worked with?
I have 5 years of experience working with many different types of studnets in high school, college, and middle school, from advanced students to those struggling to keep up.
If you (or your student) have specific learning difficulties, please inform me. In some cases I can adjust my teaching methods, but I am not qualified to assist when a learning disability is the primary challenge.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
It is so fulfilling to watch my students grow and flourish. From watching a student I helped with both their college and dental school applications be accepted to their top choice for dental school, to a student I have worked with for several years become a skilled math student and confident test taker, I love being a small part of someone’s journey to success.
My favorite recent experience with a student, however, was helping change a student’s view of themselves from someone who was “just horrible at math” to someone who could learn math and improve their skills with hard work. I was then invited to watch this student excel at a sports event, seeing them fully in their element.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone who will give you personalized time and effort, adjusting their teaching style to you and how you learn.
Why hire me as a tutor?
Math and physics tutoring gives students a deep understanding of the subject from the core principles up, developing critical thinking and problem solving skills in addition to a mastery of practical applications. I embrace students' strengths and empower growth where needed.
Math is an essential element of a strong foundation for academic and personal success. However, it is easy to develop gaps in comprehension along the way, which are then built upon in later classes, the problem snowballing. A student will continue to struggle until they master the fundamental skills. One-on-one tutoring is perfect for resolving this situation, finding and correcting any points of confusion on former topics, while ensuring full proficiency in new material.
College essays offer a tremendous opportunity for students to enhance their applications, whether to Ivy League colleges or state universities. Yet they are frequently neglected and underutilized. Let me show you the possibilities the personal statement offers for displaying your personality, passion, and assets. I know what colleges are looking for and will guide you to your perfect essay.
Using AI to assist you in the writing and editing process will make your essays into the most average versions possible. Forgettable, bland, expected. You are an amazing applicant- let’s make sure your essays emphasize all your strengths!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Think about what your biggest challenges with the subject are and how you hope the tutor can help. What are your goals for the end of the tutoring process, both specific ones (like learning how to factor quadratics) and broader ones (like becoming confident in your writing)?
How do you learn best?
