About

I am a secondary math teacher currently employed in a title one district at a title 1 school in Colorado. My first career was as an engineer in the air force for 8 years and I have over 8000 hrs of engineering application of math experience. I am very passionate about explaining math to young people who find it intimidating and I encourage them to learn and grow like I did and maybe realize their dream and launch rockets at cape canaveral like I did.

Frequently asked questions

Evaluating what they are struggling with and providing multiple paths and resources and encouragement to help them succeed.   The biggest success I've had is from finding the way the individual learns and thinks.

I have 3 years experience teaching math from 8th grade all the way up to seniors in high school and I currently teach.   Some of this has been with students who are gifted and some has been with those who are well below grade level and who struggle.

I charge about 20 dollars per half hour of time however the initial contact consultation is free up to an hour of time.

After a career in the air force doing everything from battle damage repair to eventually rocket science,  I decided to move back home and went through the "troops to teachers" program to get my certification.   Since then I have been teaching and loving it.

I have worked with those who struggle greatly and were in an alternative school environment and needed help with division,  multiplication and simole solving,  all the way up to those who were gifted and talented and learned calculus and orbital mechanics in my precalc class just to keep them challenged.

My students in precalc took an oxford style board exam and proved their knowledge of mathematics enough that the average on that test was a 90

Look for someone who will listen to you and try to learn how your brain works and then convey the knowledge to you and the resources to you in the way you learn it most effectively.   They must have content mastery,  but not all math nerds can teach well to all types of learners

Do your best to have a good description of what it is that you struggle with,  because some struggle is important and it also helps the tutor a lot if you can at least have the questions that you need to ask lined up.   It saves time for everyone and shows your dedication from the get go.
