About

I absolutely love math and science! Since 2014, I have regularly worked as a tutor, classroom assistant and college level teaching assistant. These experiences have included curriculum in all of the core math classes from high school level algebra to differential equations and linear algebra at the college level as well as biology, chemistry and physics at the high school and college levels. I also have experience teaching intro to advanced level computer science topics and have worked as a software engineer at Google.

I love finding new ways to explain topics and discovering all the different ways people wrap their heads around complex material. It feels great when you make a connection with a student and are able to see them gain confidence in their abilities. Math and science is tons of fun and I love to share my passion for learning with others.

Frequently asked questions

When I take on a new student, I generally talk to them for a little bit about what they've been working on thus far in the class or classes that they are seeking help with. If I am able to, I try to get access to their course material ahead of time so that we are on the same page. Usually, I find it easiest to start working on their current assignment and using that interaction to figure out which topics we need to work on more. Once we get through the first few sessions, it becomes much more clear if a student prefers to just work through assignments or spend more time receiving direct instruction on the topics they are learning about. I'm always asking students how they would like to utilize their sessions and I'm happy to bring in supplementary practice or extra content that would help further their understanding.

I am almost finished with a undergraduate degree in computer science and mathematics. While attending college full time, I was a tutor and a teaching assistant, usually working 20 hours a week. Additionally, I volunteered for multiple after school programs at local middle schools as well as being a classroom aid in multiple science classes at a local high school. I absolutely love teaching and math and science in general.

I charge $30 an hour for standard sessions. I am willing to do in person and virtual tutoring. If multiple students wish to attend sessions together, I am willing to negotiate the rate.

When I was in high school, I often times would stay after school to help other students with school work. This was my informal start to teaching. When I entered college, I was able to begin tutoring introductory level courses for math and science in my freshman year. After that I became a TA and started volunteering at local schools.

I have worked with middle school, high school and college students.
