About
I have a degree in Physics and a Masters in Math Education. I also hold a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Mathematics and a Supplemental Authorization in Physics. I have been teaching at Villa Park High School for 20 years and have tutored for 21 years.
I have a YouTube channel with over 200 math and physics videos. I have taught Algebra I, Algebra II (including Honors), Geometry (including Honors), Precalculus (including Honors), AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism, and AP Computer Science A. I also teach Intermediate Calculus (Calc III) topics. I have taught SAT and ACT preparation courses in math since 2002, including every subject test for math.
I love everything about it! I very much enjoy helping students to understand advanced concepts. All problem-solving mechanics rely on a concept and I enjoy helping students to grasph those concepts. I want them to be able to distinguish between the "whys" and the "hows." In this way, the student can start from a handful of ideas and use those to solve many problems. Although time does not always permit, I feel it is helpful to see different ways of doing the same problem.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $40 per hour for all math tutoring at or above Algebra 2 and for Physics.
How did you get started teaching?
As is the case with many teachers, I was inspired to teach by... a teacher!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with many high school and junior high students from many backgrounds and cultures. I have also taught in East Asia.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure your tutor provides an opportunity for YOU to try your hand at solving the types of problems they are "teaching" you to do.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should try their assignments or practice assessments first. Then they should make a list of their specific questions or problem areas. They should try to come to their tutoring session with that list. This maximizes the efficiency of the tutoring experience!
