LA's Teachers
About
Hello!
I enjoy working with children and nothing beats the satisfaction of knowing that you are making a difference in their life. I have had the pleasure of working with children of all ages in many occasions such as working at an after school program, private tutoring, and even babysitting and I have enjoyed it every time. I've been doing this for 7 years and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon! Hope you find the right tutor for yourself or for your child.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I would need to determine their current level of understanding. I would give them a pre-assessment, discuss with student what he/she is having trouble with, review homework, and if necessary speak with their teacher. We would then work work from there and reinforce what he/she is currently being taught.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I took career with children during high school, some child development classes in college, I work at an elementary after school program, and have been tutoring for years. I have been working with children for 9 years and many more to come!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing is typically done by amount of sessions. Eight sessions are usually the amount charged at a time; however, more sessions can be asked for. Each session is an hour long. Individual one time sessions are available.
How did you get started teaching?
Ever since I was little I knew I enjoyed teaching. I taught my sister at home from an early age and now she is a bright honor student in high school. Time flies. I myself began tutoring others during high school, and volunteering at elementary schools. Next thing you know I was hired and doing what I enjoyed, and up to this day... I'm still doing it!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with many many elementary students. I tutored students who were in middle school. I have tutored algebra for high school. I have worked with students who grasped stuff quickly and others who take a little bit longer. I have worked with people of all shapes and sizes!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I used to tutor this wonderful girl who had a hard time reading. I tutored her and gave her homework help during elementary and some of middle school. I tend to keep in contact with students I've worked with, so one day she gives me the awesome news that she made it into Honor English and Honor History! The same little girl who one day told me she would never be in any honor classes because she had such a hard time. I was so proud and you now what she says? "I did it for you. I knew you would be proud." (True story! I have the messages to prove it!)
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone who understands your needs and your pace. Each student is different and the same applies to teachers. Find someone you feel comfortable with and that is willing to put the effort and work with you. It's a constant work of teamwork and both have to work together to achieve great results!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How much help do I need?
What concepts confuse me more than others?
Am I understanding classwork?
Do I have questions from my homework?
