About
Hello! My name is Mehrnaz and I am a National Institutes of Health-funded biomedical researcher currently studying to get my PhD in biological sciences.
I love tutoring because it offers me a way to inspire students in the same way I was inspired by amazing teachers and tutors I have had in the past. I truly believe that everyone can love math and science and learn to be good at it, it just requires some simple skills and tactics and a supportive environment where students feel they can make mistakes and learn from them without judgment.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My primary focus in a tutoring session is making sure my students learn the techniques they need to solve any problem given to them, especially problems that build upon prior knowledge. To do this, it is essential that they understand the basics and continue to practice them over time. To this end, I focus on reviewing past material and expanding upon new material in every session.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been tutoring STEM courses for over 6 years. I also have 2 Associate's degrees, one in general sciences and one in behavioral sciences. I am currently a 3rd year at CSU, Northridge studying biochemistry and am a recipient of a National Institute of Health research mentorship grant.
