About

I would be very happy to help with any English, Writing, Reading/Comprehension, US History, Comparative Government/Political Sciencel Public Speaking needs you or your child may have. I have a strong academic and professional background in these areas and I am fairly certain I bring experience no one else can offer.

I hold a Bachelors in English (with concentrations in critical literary theory and creative writing), a dual Masters in Communication and Leadership, and this past May I graduated from Southwestern Law School in L.A. with my Law Degree (Juris Doctor).

I have had both my academic and professional work published, and have ghost written a substantial amount work for publication for Senators, State Representatives, and members of Congress.

In fact, I have 20+ years as a professional writer, and strategic/political communicator. I have worked as both a print and broadcast journalist; press secretary to the Alaska State Senate, communication director/message developer to various candidate and advocacy campaigns, and have served in a variety of leadership roles for non-profit organizations, including, Congressman George Nethercutt's US History and Civics Education Foundation.

My strength is in writing for impact. Teaching others how to write material a reader wants to read, by connecting the client to the correlation between the topic, and those things the client knows and enjoys. I assist with issue spotting, comprehension, and problem analysis. As well as, research skills, in which I share techniques for culling research data quickly. I work with clients on ways to write with concision and clarity, as they to organize their thoughts on the page. I am proficient in MLA, APA, AP, Blue Book (Legal) styles of writing and citation.

That all said, I also have 20+ years tutoring my own children, nephews, nieces and friends' kids across all grade levels.

I have taken up tutoring commercially to have control over my schedule while waiting for my California Bar Exam result and completing my licensure process to be an attorney.

I am happy to speak to you by phone and answer your questions to see if I would be a good fit. My rates are based on the scope student's needs, frequency, preparation, and travel our session would require. Typically, my rates range from $30-$60 an hour, but I am happy to work with you on budget. I live in Camarillo, so if travel would be difficult, I am happy to tutor online. However, when and where possible, I would like to have an initial session in person to make sure you, your student, and I are all on the same page. After that I am happy to meet in person as needed, and regularly by computer. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, I hope to hear from you soon.

Very Best Regards,

Ron Irwin, M.A., J.D.

I love Teching/Tutoring for three reasons:

(1) Knowledge not used, shared, passed on, is knoweldge wasted.

(2) Knowlege is cummulative, it is an evolutionary process. Society is advanced when a student can become the teacher.

(3) There is something very special and satisfying when a student, or client understands a concept, can then apply it, and even learn to enjoy it.
