About
I have been a secondary English teacher for nearly 20 years, and I am able to reach students at their level to help them improve in both writing and reading comprehension.
I have access to several resources to allow students to see growth without feeling overwhelmed. I can assist students with direct work from the classroom teacher, but also provide supplemental lessons to assist in learning.
I love when my students feel successful and gain confidence! It is the most important part of learning.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My approach to tutoring is to help my student understand the process rather than focus on the end result. I prefer to use the questioning process to assist my students as opposed to simply giving answers. Questioning is an integral part of learning.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in English as well as an MA in Education Administration. I have taught classes ranging from intervention courses to higher level honors. I specialize in helping students I understand the writing process in order to write more successful essays as well as using editing techniques to maximize their knowledge of grammar and mechanics.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My rate is $70 per hour, however, if a student wishes to meet more than once a week we can adjust the rate. In addition if there is a student who would like tutoring with a sibling or peer, we can do a duo rate as well.
How did you get started teaching?
I became a teacher right out of college because I knew that is exactly what I wanted to do. I love teaching most when I see my students grow and take pride in the work that they've accomplished through diligence and dedication.
