About

My goal is to help students have the knowledge, skills, and foundation they need to excel in classes and thoroughly understand the information taught to them.

As for my qualifications, I am currently studying Mechanical Engineering in university and have been enrolled in several higher-level math courses in college, along with having been on multiple academic teams throughout high school and college. I have also worked at several math and physics tutoring centers, where my focus was to help students achieve their full potential in order to maximize their problem solving abilities.

I believe that once the basics are understood well, success will come more easily with minimal difficulties!

Frequently asked questions

I find it helpful to have students explain which topics they are having difficulties with (and why, if possible) so we are able to work together to try to understand the material. I also find that in most cases, practicing similar questions better helps their understanding.

I have been employed in a few other tutoring centers that focused largely on middle and high school math and physics, and have worked at places that enhance students' math skills for about 4 years.

I plan to charge hourly for lessons.

Before I entered high school, I myself found myself struggling with a few math concepts. I found certain things confusing and difficult. Once I entered a certain tutoring center that allowed me to get past those difficulties and excel in classes, I found that I wanted the opportunity to do the same for other students.

I have worked with mainly elementary to middle schoolers, sometimes early high schoolers.

I had previously worked with a middle school student who was often distracted and disruptive. I and another tutor worked with the student to discover that this disruptive behavior stemmed from the fact that they didn't have a good understanding of the basic concepts of their class, and wanted to distract other students and delay their learning so the disruptive student would feel better about themself. After some further one-on-one tutoring, they gained a good grasp of the material and went on to excel and become one of the best in their class. I think I was pretty proud because I felt like I played a part in their development.

I would recommend they find a teacher who challenges them but doesn't push them to the point where the work becomes uncomfortable and unenjoyable. I also believe they should try to find someone who is able to help them understand the concepts and build a good foundation.

I think students should understand their limits and the pace at which they work at best. I understand this is difficult to do sometimes, which is why I believe the teacher and student should be able to find a good pace together, but I think it would be helpful if the student had some understanding of their limits beforehand. I also think it would be good if the student knew what kind of a learner they were (visual, practical, etc) and their weaknesses.
