Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I usually look at whatever their assignment is and work through it with them, trying to give them tools to be able to do it on their own and continue improving. After working through things once I give them a similar question and ask them to work through it on their own, and then I help them with the troubling areas. I continue doing that until they are confident with the subject.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I taught a weekly class in conversational Hebrew for a school year and I've been a teachers assistant at my synagogue's Sunday school for 4 years. In high school, I tutored some of my friends who were struggling. I am currently tutoring an 11 year old and helping her with her homework every day. I tutored some other people in my community.
What types of students have you worked with?
Elementary, middle and high schoolers.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find out how you learn best and don't be afraid to tell a teacher what you're looking for. Be vocal about what works and what doesn't.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What methods of learning, studying and note taking work for them? What are their academic strengths and weaknesses?
