My daughter was a little nervous about working with someone other than her teacher in math; however when her first session was done she was super excited and motivated to work with Jessica again. She said that Jessica knew where all the fun math games were on the Internet and was very nice. Jessica is a perfect match for Ivey! Thank you.

Jessica helps to build my daughter confidence in the subject she struggles in. My daughter feels very comfortable learning from Jessica and uses the tools that Jessica showed her at home and in the classroom. Also, Jessica follows through on the homework and spelling test that my daughter worked on from the previous week with Jessica! My daughter got 100% on her spelling test. Jessica helps my daughter to trust and believe in herself and enjoy learning.

    Frequently asked questions

I start off a lesson by asking my students to tell me what they are struggling with. Once they have identified their weakest areas, I start off with easy problems or questions. I gradually increase the difficulty of questions. Then, after I feel that they have successfully mastered the topic, I ask them to teach it to me. If a student can teach a topic, then they truly have mastered it.

I have an undergraduate degree in Liberal Studies from San Diego State University and and a Masters in Arts of Teaching from Brown University.

I have been a 5th grade teacher before and I am currently working as a Home Study teacher at a school in the Inland Empire.

All of my lessons are a flat fee of $60/hr.

If lessons are online, the fee is $50/hr (these lessons can be conducted through Zoom, FaceTime, or Skype).

My family is full of teachers! From a young age I knew I wanted to help people learn.

I had my first experience tutoring as a peer tutor at my high school. Through that opportunity, I discovered I loved teaching. I decided to make Education my major in college and I continued on with that as my Masters field of study.

I have worked with students who have learning and behavioral disabilities, nuerotypical students, above grade-level students. I enjoy working with all students because they each have different perspectives.

A recent event that I am fond of is Operation Santa from the United States Postal Service. I am happy that the USPS helps families across the US have a wonderful holiday season by providing gifts to children.

I would advise students to ask their prospective teacher how they will handle the student's questions. Having a warm and welcoming approach to a student's questions is key to a strong teacher.

Students should consider their learning styles (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, etc.) and make sure to communicate that to their teachers. With this information, teachers are able to best help their students.
