About

I have 3 years experience with students ranging from elementary to High School. I've had 4 students within these 3 years that I've stuck with for semesters or one school year at a time. I have also had experience working with children with learning disabilities. Aside from one on one tutoring, I have also had experience with teaching students in classroom settings through the GATE program and Project Pass in which along with my peers, we taught students Astronomy, Geology, and other topics in the STEM field.

I am currently in my last year of college studying Health Education and have had a great educational journey. I speak two languages (Tagalog & English). I was the Spelling Bee champion for 3 years in Monrovia, CA during my middle school years and serves as Co-captain of the dance team, Vice President of AP Bio club, and President of Filipino Club. Now, I serve as President of Newman Club at San Francisco State University while also doing volunteer work at CPMC Hospital. From all this, I have experience with relating to students in regards to a challenging education with many extra-curricular activities. Aside from homework, I can help them prioritize their schedules and help them with goal-setting.

It's a pleasure to work with children, it keeps me young and as a current college student, I valued my tutors growing up and I would like to do the same for younger students as it helped me a lot in my education.

While helping students, I am also able to support my own education financially.

Frequently asked questions

I was asked to help out one of my previous teachers with a program called "Project Pass" which matched tutors with struggling students in Math and English. Once a week, I would go to their middle school and help them with their homework. Once that program ended, I was offered to teach afterschool classes with my peers to 5th graders that were in the GATE program. Once a week, we would go to their elementary school and hold workshops on topics such as Astronomy, Geology, and other science topics suitable for 5th graders.

I have worked individually with 4 students.

One male student in 5th grade with Autism who needed help on focusing on doing homework.

One male student in 9th Grade with ADHD who needed help in Math, Biology, and History.

One female student (from 6th grade-7th grade) who needed help with reading comprehension and social skills.

One female student (8th-9th grade) with Autism who needed help with all subjects as well as social skills.

I have also worked with students in classroom settings to teach workshop classes with the GATE program.
