Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to review what the student is working on before the session and assess their knowledge beforehand. I go over any assignments that they are struggling with, provide examples, and test their retainment. I ask about their interests and their goals, and I keep that in mind as we progress forward with their studies.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've taken multiple AP English courses in high school, and I was president of the "Diagramming Club" for two consecutive years throughout my high school career. I have done musical theatre for 9 years, and I have performed and participated in productions through high school in my play production class. I am a singer-songwriter, who enjoys all things music and performing. I am a current Psychological Sciences student at the University of California Irvine, and a prospective Marriage and Family Therapy graduate student.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I am fairly flexible with pricing, but my standard is usually $30 for 30 minutes and $50 for an hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I have always enjoyed helping students gain a higher knowledge of English and grammar. During my time as the Diagramming Club President in high school, I guided students through their difficulties with grammar and Essay writing. I am experienced with acting and music, including musical theatre, and I also enjoy helping others expand their passions and skills in these fields.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with international students, who have had difficulties with basic English writing and grammar, as well as middle school and high school students who seek extra guidance with basic writing and grammar skills. I enjoy teaching all types of students, especially elementary level students, who seek extra grammar and sentence-structure assistance.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I find joy in helping students conquer educational nuances that they previously struggled with.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would suggest to look for a teacher or a tutor who is patient and skilled in their area of expertise, and who gives them their utmost support and attention during their sessions.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should assess their knowledge of the subject of interest beforehand, and should write a list of questions so that the teacher or tutor can pinpoint the students' needs.
