Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I establish trust with new students so that they know I'm in their corner, while also defining their strengths and weaknesses so as to best work toward their goals. I believe in holding students accountable yet try to keep our sessions fun.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been tutoring for 10 years. I was first trained at C2 Education and have since developed my own teaching style.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
For Test Prep and college counseling I start at $125/hr. For AP subjects I start at $100/hr. For non-AP high school work and grade school work, I start at $75/hr.
How did you get started teaching?
I got my start tutoring Test Prep at C2 Education, then went on to broaden the amount of subjects I teach while working at various other tutoring companies around LA. I now have my own clients and have been lucky to work with great students.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught all ages from 1st to 12th grade. I've worked with students who attend public schools, as well as those who attend private schools. And I've worked with students with different considerations, such as ADHD.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A great student I worked with for many years was accepted into Stanford.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a tutor who can help you learn on your own terms so that you may continue to learn after the lesson has ended.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do you like about a subject? What bores or intimidates you about it? What questions are you afraid to ask your teacher and why? And what is something cool you could do with a subject once you've mastered it?
