About
I have 4 years of tutoring experience at various levels. I have worked with k-12 in addition to college students. I work with students so they can cultivate their own ideas and voice. Instead of simply editing their assignments, I will help them notice these errors, so that they do not have to rely on me in the future.
M.A. in English that I obtained from Cal Poly this past spring (2020).

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
At the start of each session I will ask the student of their goals. If they are unsure, we will move to review their assignment and make a list of what we can get done during a session. From there the collaborative learning/tutoring process begins.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have two degrees in English which has helped increase knowledge surrounding literature, writing/formating essays and also what teachers expect. Tutoring K-12 students for a non-profit organization in Los Angeles has helped me change my tutoring approach based on the student.
During my time at Cal Poly I took a class on tutoring styles, which really shaped my outlook on being a tutor. Then becoming at a tutor at Cal Poly, I was able to put the theories I learnt in the classroom into action

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure they care about your sucess longterm, not just with the assignment you are seeking help with.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Tutoring sessions go by fast, so prioritize what you want to work on and express that to your tutor.
