Seth' Tutoring Extravaganza
About
Hello there! My name is Seth Chagi, and I am about to be a Graduate Student; I am also a Science Communicator when it comes to Human Evolution! (We can talk more on that separately if you so desire =)). I have an average GPA of around 3.4, math is my dawn fall or it would be higher, learning is my favorite thing to do, and teaching is my second.
I hold an AA-T in Anthropology from Moorpark College, an AA in Social and Behavioral Sciences from Moorpark as well, I am a current student at ASU online, and will be getting my BA in a term.
I offer tutoring services in the physical sciences, as well as English, writing, and literature; I love to work with kids and humans all the way up to adults as well!
My goal is to help spread and create open access to education, as I believe a more educated world is a happier world. We can all achieve that together.
I can tutor in many subjects; it just depends on the grade level and the need of the individual; my price starts at $25 an hour for any subject, but math or science and science starts at $35 an hour.
I DO NOT do math! I have dyscalculia, and I need a tutor myself!
I believe that there is no correct way to learn but that the tutor and the individual need to work together to find common ground and a way to make the learning fun, for when you can enjoy it, you retain it, and it can open new doors you never imagined before.
Education is my passion, and while I am new at this, I hope you will give me a chance.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first thing that I like to do is to get to know the student. Their interests, and their needs. Figure out how they learn. Everyone is diferent, and what is the point of getting someone to help you learn that will not mold to the needs of the student?
By learning about their interests, how they like to learn, and what makes them interested, I can much more easily prepare lessons and methods to help them achieve their goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Both of my parents were teachers, I have lived my entire life in the education system. As of now, I hold two AA degrees, one an AA-T in Anthropology and an AA in Social and Behavioral Sciences.
I am attending Cal State Northridge to obtain my B.A in Anthropology before pursuing graduate school to get my Ph.D. eventually. I am one semester away from completing my undergrad.
I have worked with many students on a volunteer basis, in after-school programs, etc., and I think it's time I took the next step!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing is relatively standard, but depends on the needs of the student. If it is a heavy writing class, and there is a great deal of proof reading that needs to be done, that may be more than a student that needs help learning vocabulary.
For non science classes I start at 25 an hour, for science classes I start at 35 an hour. I do NOT accept checks
How did you get started teaching?
As I mentioned above, both of my parents were teachers, and my grandmother, its in my blood! Some of my best friends are elementary school and high school teachers, and I have many professors whom I call colleuges.
What types of students have you worked with?
Students with difficulties paying attention or making due dates, procrstinators, and those that are simply not interetsed. I seem to have a knack of getting them invovled!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent event that I am fond of is a vacation that I recently took with my partner over winter break. We went to Joshua Tree, a national park east of Los Angeles in the high desert, on the border of the Mojave desert and the Colorado desert. It was beautiful. It is one of the few national parks, or places in general in the U.S that is known as a "zero light zone". Meaning you can see the stars without any light pollution.
That was stunning! Seeing the stars like our ancestors did, and how they are meant to be was just stunning! We spent our time there in a large inflatable clear bubble and slept under the stars!
It was splendid!
