About this tutor

New Coda’s continued growth is best attributed to the support of the San Francisco area families whom we’ve been so fortunate to serve for the past several years. The company’s services have bloomed from SAT and ACT prep to encompass the gamut of high school entrance exams, AP test prep, college essay consultation, and academic support for English writing, science, and math subjects. Our test prep and academic mentors are screened and further trained to address the increasingly competitive third-party education market.

For those students in middle school, we offer academic support across every subject as well as high school entrance exam prep, including the HSPT, the ISEE, and the SSAT. High school students can expect excellent ongoing support in academic subjects such as math, physics, chemistry, and English, in addition to SAT and ACT testing strategy and practice, SAT subject test prep, and AP test preparation. New Coda continues to work with college students as they progress through the rigors of a post-secondary education.

Our tutoring professionals work in-home with our students in the Palo Alto, San Carlos, and San Francisco school districts, as well as at our home office in the Burlingame area. We’ve all worked with learning differences across a broad spectrum, and we use customized materials for each student, embracing the value of a true 1-on-1 tutoring experience.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

We will conduct an initial interview by phone/email to assess a good fit with our appropriate instructor.  From there, we will schedule our first meeting, either at our office or at the student's home (sorry, no coffee shops, libraries, etc).  If we have a good fit and the instructor and student find rapport, we will schedule the next 4-8 sessions, depending on the academic package that makes sense to the client.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

We have been operating in the bay area independently since 2012, and in that time we have worked with over 1000 students, working in academic support capacities as well as in the realm of standardized test prep.  We have worked with students in virtually every school district on the peninsula, in San Francisco, in the south bay area, and we are growing in the east bay area currently.

Our instructors are adept at communicating with students and their families, ensuring that gaps in knowledge are filled and that strategies are practiced to set up good study habits and critical thinking skills (executive functioning).

We have also worked with hundreds of students with learning differences, and we continually employee techniques and modify our teaching methods to address these students' needs.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

We offer pre-paid academic packages of 4 or 8 one-hour sessions, which range in price from $80 to $95 per hour.  We absolutely accept credit cards, as well as checks.  For more information, please feel free to email us at [email protected] or contact us through our website:

Thank you in advance!  We look forward to working with you!
