Hello!
My name is Jennifer Torres I am currently a graduate student at the University of San Francisco.
I am passionate about education and wish to do that for a living. I believe this world would be a much better place if every student received the proper support they need to become empathetic members of the community.
I will graduate in May 2020 with a degree in Counseling Psychology with a focus on school counseling and PPS credential.
My past positions have included counseling intern at the middle and high school level. I also worked as an Academic intern throughout my undergraduate at UCSC and supported students academically and with college and career goals.
I can provide overall general school tutoring in the areas of English and Math. I am also willing to provide services such as study skills, test prep (SAT), goal setting, organizational skills, and 4 year planning for post secondary opportunities.

How did you get started teaching?
I began as an Academic Intern at a high school in the central coast area. I was an in class tutor for an AP English course. That's where I fell in love with counseling because I had a passion for supporting students academic and college/career goals.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with mostly students from low socioeconomic status, however, have worked with all kinds of students from all kinds of backgrounds in the cities of Watsonville, Oakland and Hayward California.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of the students on my counseling caseload received a Posse Scholarship for Lehigh University.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Whatever kind of learner you are, let them know so they can support you in the way you learn best.
